The world

At Bark for Life on Sunday Duncan: Mommy, I've never been to this place in the world before! How wonderful the world must be when there is still so much new...

Instead of buying heavily packaged herbs at the grocery store (which often travel thousands of miles before reaching the supermarket shelves), try growing your own at home. It's pretty easy to grow some of the common household herbs. An added bonus is enjoying the smell of fresh herbs in your house. **This can save some major money too - have you priced fresh herbs lately?

This year

So this year I decided not to buy the egg dying kits from the super market - I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is just as easy to do it with food coloring + vinegar. Good old Martha helped me out here. We had fun with wax too. We drew on dyed eggs with crayons then re-dyed, then melted the wax off in the oven. I love the results... I chose to stick with blues, greens and oranges this year.

Have you ever been

to the Philadelphia airport? I love the rockers. They have lovely white rockers all over the airport - they remind you of rockers on a cottage porch. In the hustle and bustle of the airport it's pleasant to see people sit back, rock, read the paper or just watch the planes come and go...

Put your dryer lint in the backyard: The soft lint is ideal for birds to feather their nests and is a much more eco-friendly alternative than throwing it in the garbage. Simply place the dryer lint in a pile on the ground and wait for nesting birds to retrieve it.

How easy. And cozy.
